Working with the team at Independent Power (IPS), the KONG Company made the strategic decision to install smart solar controls and purchase a 122.76 kW, high-efficiency SunPower solar power system on the roof its manufacturing facility in Golden, Colorado. While the management team at the KONG Company had a strong environmental commitment to going solar, the fiscal benefits were hard to miss. Together, the combined smart controls plus the 341 SunPower SPR X22-360 commercial solar panels are projected to save more than $676,000 over 25 years. The solar power system is estimated to produce 186,203 kWh per year, which is the equivalent to offsetting 113.7 tons of carbon dioxide or planting 2,647 trees.
